Michael has been developing real estate in the multi-family, retirement, assisted living industries for more than 20 years. He holds a Master’s of Business Administration Real Estate degree from Georgetown University in Washington D.C. and a Bachelor of Arts, Architecture from the University of Washington. His distinguished career began at Seattle-based Leisure Care where he reported to the CFO and, CEO and during his tenure, he was responsible for increasing assets from $50 million to $450 million, and communities from six to 33.
As the director of development at Prescott/Redimentions Company in Kirkland, WA, Michael delivered his expertise utilizing feasibility phases for a $40 million mixed-use retail/apartment project. His expertise was critical in providing the needed capital to ensure its construction and opening during the industry downturn in 2008. He also led the project management team to restore and renovate the $13 million historic Queen Anne High School condominiums.
Prior to joining Living Care Lifestyles, Michael was the vice president of development at Aegis Living. Through his leadership, Aegis Living completed nine senior assisted living and memory care communities in five local jurisdictions with a project responsibility totaling more than $375 million. Due to Michael’s successes, the development division grew to nine employees including financing and marketing specialists.
As vice president of the Navigator Development Group, Michael is responsible for new project development including site acquisition, market research, and financial modeling. Upon completion of community approvals, he manages the design, permitting, and construction management until turn-over and opening of the communities ensuring a smooth transition to the operations partner, Living Care Lifestyles.
When not overseeing community projects, Michael volunteers his time as a board member. He’s a member of the Bishop Blanchet Booster Board (current president), and has previously served on the Sacred Heart School Commission, and the Shattuck Hammond Investment Advisory Board. He also volunteers as coach for youth teams which includes lacrosse, soccer, basketball and volleyball.
Did you know: Michael played for the Washington Huskies varsity basketball team for two years as a walk-on during the 1980-81 and ‘81-‘82 seasons respectively, for the final two years of legendary coach Marv Harshman’s career.
